It’s made with 100 ten watt double chip Epistar LEDs. King LED claims these are more efficient than 3 and 5 watt pieces.
The body dimensions are 12.2 x 8.26 x 2.36 inches and weighs around 6.4 pounds. The light supports worldwide voltage of 85-265 volts.
However, the design does lack two features that are available with comparable lights: Daisy chaining and separate Veg/Bloom mode switches.
Lack of daisy chaining is the bigger inconvenience if you plan on buying multiple units, while the veg and bloom modes are a convenient but unnecessary feature.
Now, let’s talk a bit about spectral ability for the King Plus 1000W double chip full spectrum LED grow light.
King Plus 1000w Light Spectrum:
Combination of all these color bands creates a well balanced and useful light spectrum for your cannabis plants. The major factor that plays a role in improvised photosynthesis process is Blue: Red ratio, and in the case of the King Plus 1000W LED Grow Light it’s well balanced.
A lot of the low cost LED grow lights have unbalanced spectrum meaning there’s a lot of blue and not enough red, or vice versa. That would result in your light being better for one growth phase, but only satisfactory for the other. Strong PPFD value is great, but how far from the center is a desirable PPFD value maintained? That’s the definition of LED grow light coverage.
For a low cost grow light like the King Plus 1000 watt model, you’ll be getting the most dense light within 2’x2′. That’s our conservative estimate based on PPFD values. However, King LED claims this 1000 watt model can cover 3.4′ x 3.8′ max.
It truly depends on what plants you’re growing and what growth phase they’re in. For cannabis growing you’ll want to stay on the conservative side.
If you go by our 2’x2′ estimate, buying two of these lights won’t cost you much to provide a solid 2ft by 4ft coverage area. A higher priced light will cost you considerably more to get a solid 3’x3′ coverage with a single lamp. At that point you might as well go with two or three King Plus 1000 watt grow lights and get solid coverage for 4′ x 4′.
That’s where we see true value in this full spectrum LED grow light.
For coverage, the King Plus 1000 watt gives you solid results in small expandable portions.
A grow light that draws a lot of power from the power outlet is useless. I’m looking at you, HPS systems and metal halide lamps! This King Plus 1000 watt light draws around 185 watts from the outlet. On the other hand, it can still provide you an 1000 watt equivalent light quality of an HPS grow light.
How does the King Plus 1000 watt compare to other 1000 watt LED grow lights on power consumption? We were able to quickly compare to three other popular 1000 watt LED grow light models.
One light draws the same amount of power. The second light draws 10% more, and the third light draws considerably less power.
The light drawing less power also had a 450 umol (33% lower) PPFD value at 18″ hanging height, yet it was priced the same. I know I’d pick the King Plus in that comparison. If you start going to that 450 umol PPFD value, the light is only providing the bear minimum a Cannabis plant would need.
Overall, the King Plus 1000 watt is turning out to look like a very solid grow light.

Another said his light was within half a foot from his plants (not recommended) and the heat was negligible. Many more commented on the heat being not much at all.
