CBG CBD

If you’ve heard about CBG (cannabigerol) lately, you might be wondering how to use it. After all, it’s more expensive than CBD so you don’t want to waste it. Mixing CBG with CBD is the best way to use CBG.

You probably already have some knowledge about CBG and how it’s a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp and cannabis. Let’s dig in to my experiments with mixing CBG and CBD.

How to Mix CBG and CBD

There are several ways to mix CBG (cannabigerol) and CBD together for amazing results. Based on my personal experience, and the experience of many other users who I’ve heard from, a 1:1 ratio of CBG to CBD works best.

The first method to mix CBG and CBD is by purchasing and mixing the isolate of each cannabinoid into a carrier oil or edible at home. In my opinion this is the less expensive option. It’s also more versatile because you can fine tune the dosage and ratio best for you.

A second method of mixing CBG and CBD is by mixing CBG isolate into your CBD oil. I happened to have a lot of homemade CBD oil at home, so all I did was purchase CBG isolate, buy a 30mg measuring spoon, and mix the CBG isolate into my CBD oil at a 1:1 ratio.

I only mix one dose at a time in a cup because I like to rotate between pure CBD oil and the CBG CBD mix. If you’re not interested in having the choice of rotating between the two, you can go ahead and mix a large amount of CBG isolate into your entire bottle of CBD oil.

There is no heat required for mixing. Just drop the CBG into the CBD oil and proceed to shake the bottle or mix inside the single dose cup with the dropper. I mix for 10 seconds before I suck the oil into the dropper and consume the mixed oil.

Keep reading below for a description of the effects you can expect when mixing CBG with CBD.

A third method of mixing CBG and CBD would be by purchasing CBG and CBD flower, break them up and mix them equally into a vaporizer or cigarette.

Keep in mind it’ll take a bit of math to get a 1:1 ratio with this third method, because one gram of CBG flower will likely have a different amount of CBG in milligrams compared to milligrams of CBD in the CBD flower. You can use my CBD THC calculator to help you determine the amount of milligrams of cannabinoid in your flower.

How Does CBG and CBD Make You Feel?

CBG Alone:

Ingesting CBG alone did not make me feel any different, regardless of what dose I used. But I know everybody is affected differently, so I scanned through a bunch of Reddit posts to see what other people were feeling.

I’ve read people report effects such as increased focus, decreased social anxiety, and more. But even people who reported some of these effects said the effects can be inconsistent.

This is why I prefer mixing CBG and CBD together, because the synergistic effect of CBG when added to CBD is much more noticeable and desirable, as I describe below.

CBG Mixed with CBD:

CBG and CBD

If you’ve already tried CBD by itself, you know it can ease pain, anxiety, seizures, and a host of other ailments. But a few side effects of CBD can be undesirable. I find that CBD alone can make you tired towards the tail end of it’s effects. CBD can also make you feel foggy headed and unmotivated.

When CBG is mixed with CBD in a 1:1 ratio as I described above, you get the same effect as when you consume CBD, but without the foggy head, drowsiness, and lack of motivation.

For this reason, many people, including myself, have become big fans of CBG. I’m able to get things done around the house, or even focus and work competently after consuming a 1:1 CBG to CBD mixture.

Potential Benefits of Mixing CBG with CBD

A study of CBG and it’s molecular targets found that cannabigerol (CBG) may hold therapeutic potential via interaction with cannabinoid receptors and other receptors in the body.

The list below is not even close to exhaustive when it comes to potential CBG benefits, but these are some of the more prominent benefits that have been noted by myself and others.

Increased Focus

Using CBG isolate alone without anything else has really helped me increase my focus and stop feeling lazy and unmotivated throughout the day. This hasn’t been a one time observation, and it’s not an effect I expected or wanted when buying cannabigerol.

I find when I use CBG I tend to just “get to work.” I don’t procrastinate about getting things done. It also helps put me in a focus zone where I can’t get easily distracted. That’s the best way I can explain it.

Anxiety and Stress Relief

I’ve been using CBG isolate for a while now, over time I’ve realized how effective it is at anxiety and stress relief.

I was working a stressful day job (who doesn’t have a stressful job?) and I found that 60-90mg of CBG helps me to “not care,” or not be affected as much by minuscule stuff that would normally annoy me.

I found cannabigerol to be incredibly helpful when working in a fast paced, stressful, work environment.

Mood Booster

There’s evidence that cannabigerol can block the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor in the brain, which tells the body that enough serotonin has been produced and there’s no need to produce any more at the moment.

When the 5-HT1A receptor is blocked by CBG, the body will keep sending serotonin to the brain until the CBG wears off, meaning CBG can potentially act as a mood booster. If you look at the feedback I posted above from a Reddit user (see image above), you’ll see they reported CBG puts them in a great mood!

CBG and the Colon

A study in mice (not conclusive for humans) found that CBG partially blocks proteins that are present in colorectal cancer cell lines. People who have IBD (irritable bowel disease) also report relief after taking CBG.

Is it worthwhile to add CBG to your CBD?

If you’ve been considering CBG and it’s potential benefits, my personal experience and research lead me to believe it’s a worthwhile cannabinoid to keep in your cupboard. The research and experiences I’ve listed above are definitely not exhaustive, so if you feel like further researching CBG on your own time, check it out on Google Scholar.
